Presidents and Prime Ministers of Romania

Romania's President (Președintele) serves as head of state, and the Prime Minister (Prim-ministrul) heads the government. The presidency was created in 1974 by Communist leader Nicolae Ceaușescu. The modern Prime Minister's office was established in 1989, though similar positions existed since 1862.
