Kings and Queens of Norway

Harald Fairhair united much of Norway in the 10th century. His descendants ruled for two centuries amid periods of internal strife, stabilized under Håkon IV in the 13th century. The 1363 marriage of Håkon VI to Margrethe of Denmark led to the Kalmar Union of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. While Sweden left in 1523, Norway remained under Danish rule until 1814, then entered a personal union with Sweden until 1905, when Prince Charles of Denmark was elected as King Haakon VII.
